Non-surgical laser treatment for Vaginal Rejuvenation
Your intimacy restored
Childbirth, ageing and hormonal changes can all negatively impact a woman’s vaginal and urinary systems. The internal tissues of the vagina weaken and lose tone and the external vulva tissues (labia) may stretch.
Due to a continual decline in collagen regeneration and decreasing levels of oestrogen, vaginal atrophy also occurs. Symptoms of vaginal atrophy include dryness, itchiness, looseness, pain or discomfort during intercourse, decreased sexual pleasure and light bladder leakage. These symptoms affect around 50% of women in their lives.
Vaginal atrophy does not usually resolve and can worsen over the years, affecting a woman’s comfort, sexual pleasure and quality of life. It is important to realise that these symptoms are very common – and now very easily treatable.
The MonaLisa Touch, a non-surgical vaginal laser treatment offered at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine, helps restore functionality and tightness to the vulvo-vaginal area. The result is a notable improvement in vaginal muscle tone, strength, lubrication and control, improved urinary incontinence, as well as enhancement of sexual sensation.
We also use our advanced CO2 skin resurfacing laser to improve the aesthetics of the vagina, including the appearance of external vulval tissues (labia), perineal scarring and symptoms of lichen sclerosis (patchy, white skin on the genital and perianal areas).
Laser vaginal rejuvenation offers a reliable, effective and convenient solution to patients who feel self-conscious about the function and appearance of their most intimate body parts. At Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine, we provide women with a comfortable and safe environment to openly discuss their concerns and desired outcomes, and help empower them to take control of their body and reclaim their self-confidence.

Many of our patients report improvements in vaginal tightness, contraction and lubrication within days after the MonaLisa Touch procedure, however the effects are more noticeable after a few weeks as collagen remodelling takes place. These improvements continue progressively for around 6 months.
A course of 3 treatments one month apart is usually recommended. Patients with severe vaginal atrophy symptoms may require 4 or 5 treatments for optimal results. This will be assessed and discussed during your consultation.
Relief from vaginal atrophy symptoms can last 12-18 months, and the extent of improvement varies between individual patients. We recommend a yearly maintenance treatment to prolong the results.
For external vaginal rejuvenation treatment, best results are seen around around 3 months post treatment.
What to expect
You will meet with our female practitioner to discuss your symptoms and concerns. Our practitioner may examine you to ensure that you are suitable for the MonaLisa Touch treatment. We require you to have a normal and up-to-date pap smear result and no other contraindications to treatment. If deemed suitable, you may proceed with your first treatment immediately after the consultation. There is no advance preparation required.
If we observe any unusual conditions or contraindications, we will address these prior to treatment and, in some instances, may refer you to a specialist gyneacologist for assessment.
The actual MonaLisa Touch treatment is quick and simple, the whole process taking no more than 15 minutes.
Your vagina will be dried and a smooth, sterile probe gently inserted into the vaginal canal. Whilst the laser is operating there is a mild vibrating sensation, but no pain. The first treatment can be a little uncomfortable, but subsequent treatments have been very easy for our patients as lubrication has improved and they know what to expect. You will be supported by our dermal clinician and physician for your procedure to ensure you are comfortable and receive the highest standards of patient care and satisfaction.
Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine have female practitioners available to perform your treatment. All practitioners operating the laser are experienced in women’s health issues and have received appropriate, specialised training in the MonaLisa Touch intra-vaginal laser system.
There are no side effects and patients can return to their normal daily activities immediately following each MonaLisa Touch treatment. We recommend no intercourse or strenuous activity for 5 days.
Frequently asked questions
What is MonaLisa Touch?
MonaLisa Touch (MLT) is a rejuvenation treatment that restores strength, promotes blood supply, and improves the functionality and appearance of the vagina. Heat is delivered to the area via our advanced CO2 skin resurfacing laser which stimulates a regenerative wound healing response, proliferating and restoring the vaginal cells.
What is vaginal atrophy?
Vaginal atrophy (or ageing), happens when the blood supply to the area reduces, resulting in loss of elasticity and thinning to the vaginal walls. The cells become dehydrated, causing decreased lubrication and vaginal dryness. This can alter the pH levels and microbiome in the area, leading to detrimental effects on the overall health and function of the vagina.
Does MonaLisa Touch hurt?
No, MLT is a very comfortable treatment due to the advanced technology of the device. Fast acting numbing cream is applied to the area, and most patients describe that they feel gentle vibrations internally, and a pain free experience externally.
Does vaginal rejuvenation work?
Clinical studies show that most women who undergo vaginal rejuvenation treatments such as MLT experience an improvement to the vaginal muscle tone, strength, lubrication, control, improved urinary incontinence, as well as enhancement of sexual sensation. The appearance of the labia, including aesthetic concerns may also be improved with multiple sessions.
What results should I expect to experience after MonaLisa Touch treatment?
Most women notice improvements to vaginal dryness, itching, irritation, painful intercourse, and report a less frequent urge to urinate after two to three treatments.
Does MonaLisa Touch help with urinary incontinence?
Yes! The MLT is effective in treating urinary incontinence. The micro-injuries created by the CO2 laser help to stimulate blood to the area, resulting in a rejuvenating effect to the vaginal walls, urethra, and pelvic floor muscles.
Can I do MonaLisa Touch after menopause?
MonaLisa Touch can be done post menopause as well as before or during. Around 50% of women suffer from post-menopausal issues, and MLT offers a new way of reducing the severity of these symptoms.
