Upper Eyelid or 'A frame' soft tissue filler treatments

What does Upper Eyelid filler involve?

Upper Eyelid procedures or what is sometimes referred to as the ‘A Frame’ area, involves the use of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based soft tissue dermal fillers placed strategically under the upper eyelid. This is a highly specialised injectable technique that should be performed only by experienced and registered injectors, like the Cosmetic Doctors at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine. Read more in our comprehensive dermal filler guide.

The upper eyelid filler or A Frame treatment is typically performed using a cannula to minimise the associated risk factors and achieving the desired results. The results are immediate, and the procedure has minimal downtime. The treatment may need to be undertaken in one or more sessions to achieve an optimal outcome, and the effect of the treatment is assessed after 4 weeks.

The A-Frame deformity treatment with hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers is a temporary treatment and requires repeat treatments based on individual circumstances. The treatment is highly specialised and carefully specific for the right candidate. It restores the shape of the eyes and fullness in the socket can give the eyes a desirable almond shape. It may sound that upper eyelid volume can cause heaviness above the eyelid making the eyes look smaller.

On the contrary, the volume replacement around the eyes and the structural hold replacement gives the eyes a well-supported and stronger look. The treatment does not interfere with the Wrinkle Relaxer treatment, and it may actually add to the overall aesthetic area when combined with appropriate wrinkle relaxer treatment in the upper third of the face.

In summary, upper eyelid dermal filler treatments are a specialised treatment that addresses the hollowness of the upper eyelids. The treatment requires extra caution and precision to avoid vascular complications. It is a temporary treatment in the category of injectables that requires repeat treatments based on individual circumstances.

Your Questions Answered

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What does the Upper Eyelid Dermal Filler procedure involve?

The procedure performed at PCM by Cosmetic Doctor only involves the use of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based soft tissue fillers placed strategically under the upper eyelid. The injectable treatment is typically performed using a cannula to minimise the associated risk factors and achieving the desired results. The results like other soft tissue fillers are immediate. However, it may take a few days for the filler to incorporate into the soft tissue.

Is there downtime with an upper eyelid filler procedure?

The procedure that utilises soft tissue filler to address A-Frame Deformity has minimal downtime. Some swelling associated with the procedure may last for 24-48 hours, if any.

How many dermal filler treatments are required to achieve the desired result to the Upper Eyelid area?

Typically a single dermal filler treatment will suffice in most circumstances. However, due to the sensitive nature of the injectable treatment and based on the individual anatomy factors including but not limited to volume loss and skin thinning, the treatment may need to be performed in more than one session to achieve an optimal outcome. Our Cosmetic Doctors follow up with each patient at the 4 week interval to assess the effect of the treatment and a top-up treatment may be considered, if required.

Is Upper Eyelid Filler a permanent treatment?

No. The A-Frame deformity treatment with Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based fillers is a temporary treatment that requires repeat treatments to maintain results. All temporary HA based fillers are metabolised by the body over a period of time. It is dependent upon the type of filler selected by your practitioner, the quantity of filler used and most importantly, variation in an individual’s metabolism.

How long does the treatment last?

Once the desired outcome is achieved, which may involve more than one session, the result may last from somewhere between 12 to 16 months.

Can this treatment help with hooded upper eyelids?

In our experience at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine (PCM), this is not a treatment to lift the hooded upper eyelids or excess skin tissue above the eyes. That issue mainly requires a surgical intervention or possibly an energy-based device management. The A-Frame Filler addresses hollowness in the socket above the upper eyelid and does not have a role in treating the excess skin above the eyes.

Will this treatment make my eyes look smaller?

This treatment is highly specialised and carefully specific for the right candidate.

Can I still have wrinkle relaxer treatment in the frown area or go ahead with a brow lift?

Yes. It does not interfere with the Wrinkle relaxer treatment, and it may actually add to the overall aesthetic area when combined with appropriate wrinkle relaxer treatment in the upper third of the face.

What is the price for upper eyelid filler?

As a guide, pricing for 1mL of dermal filler to the upper eyelid is $1,100 per 1mL. Pricing varies depending on multiple individualised factors which will be assessed by our Cosmetic Doctor in your pre-treatment consultation – after which you will be provided with a treatment plan and a quote for treatment.
