Nose Thread Lift – at a glance

Nose thread lifting procedures, also known as non-surgical rhinoplasty, or a non-surgical nose job, involve using absorbable threads to reshape and lift the nose to achieve specific nose augmentation outcomes.

Nose thread lift treatments offer impressive results without any scars, avoids lengthy downtime and other risks associated with surgical approaches.

While the results may vary based on the individual anatomy of the patient and depending on the specific thread type and techniques used, potential outcomes that can be achieved using nose thread lifting procedures include:

  • Lifting of the nasal tip
  • Building of the nose bridge
  • Visually reduce nose width
  • Elevate a droopy nose
  • Add nose projection
  • Visually sharpen a rounded nose tip
  • Improve nose irregularities or nose asymmetries
  • Visually improve a dorsal hum

Our Cosmetic Doctors with both local and international training in thread lifting techniques, are experienced in the latest and most advanced types of Nose Thread Lifting techniques.

Nose thread lift options used at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine will vary on your personalised treatment plan in line with your goals. Thread types include APTOS (polylactic acid and polycaprolactone), MINT PDO (polydioxanone) and Ultra V or Hiko PDO Nose Thread Lifts.

Why consider a nose thread lift

Benefits

  • Customisable Outcomes: Nose thread lifting procedures can be tailored to the patient’s specific goals, allowing for a tailored approach that is personalised to achieve the desired aesthetic outcome.
  • Immediate Results: The results of a nose thread lift are typically noticeable immediately after the procedure, although there may be some initial swelling that subsides over a short period.
  • Temporary Effects: While the effects from nose thread lift are long-lasting, they are not permanent. The threads gradually dissolve over time, allowing for future re-treatment adjustments if desired.
  • Minimal Downtime and Recovery: Compared to a surgical rhinoplasty, nose thread lifting typically involves minimal downtime and recovery. Patients can return to their daily activities relatively quickly.
  • Minimally-Invasive Option: Nose thread lifting offers a minimally-invasive alternative to traditional surgical rhinoplasty, making it an attractive option for individuals who want to enhance their nasal appearance without surgery.
  • Improved Outcomes over time: As nose threads are fixed under the skin, they do not migrate and therefore – unlike dermal filler – the results from a nose thread lift will remain the same for the entire duration.
  • Decreased risk of vascular compromise: Threads are composed of a solid material and inserted using a blunt cannula. As such, the risk of vascular blockages is much lower compared to using dermal filler.

It’s important to note that while nose thread lifting can provide noticeable aesthetic enhancements, it may not be suitable for all nasal concerns.

Consulting with a registered Cosmetic Doctor with suitable experience is essential in the prospective patient’s assessment process as to whether this procedure is appropriate for one’s unique goals and expectations.

Results

  • Nose Contouring: Threads can be strategically placed to reshape the nose, creating a more refined and balanced contour.
  • Nose Bridge Enhancement: Threads can be inserted along the nasal bridge to enhance its height, providing a straighter and more defined and sharper profile.
  • Nasal Tip Lifting: Threads can be used to elevate and support the nasal tip, resulting in a more lifted and refined appearance.
  • Correction of Minor Imperfections: Nose thread lifting can address minor irregularities and asymmetries in the nose, helping to achieve a more symmetrical and harmonious aesthetic look.
  • Non-Surgical Visual Correction of Dorsal Humps: Threads can be used to partially camouflage or reduce the appearance of dorsal humps (bumps on the bridge of the nose), sometimes without surgical intervention.
  • Improved Nasal Projection: By adding support and structure, nose thread lifting can enhance the projection of the nose, making it appear more balanced in relation to other facial features.
  • Collagen Stimulation: Collagen production occurs over time around the threads, thereby providing long-lasting and natural-looking results.

What to expect

Pre-Threads Consultation

A Doctor consultation is required prior to the Nose Thread Lifting treatment date.

In consultation with you, our Senior Cosmetic Physician will listen to your concerns and goals. before developing a personalised treatment plan that is aligned with your needs and aesthetic objectives. Your consulting Cosmetic Doctor will explain the procedure in detail, answer any questions that you may have, and give you an understanding of the potential results a thread lift could achieve for you.

During consultation, you will be advised of the thread type(s) suitable and how many threads are required to achieve your desired results.

Cosmetic Doctor consultations can be scheduled either in-clinic (Crows Nest, NSW Australia) or online (over Zoom meeting).

After your Cosmetic Doctor consultation, you will receive a treatment plan and quote for treatment via email.

Nose Threads Procedure

The nose thread lifting procedure is performed in our Crows Nest clinic and does not require any incisions or sedation.

Local anaesthesia will be injected into various locations along the nose and the procedure itself is typically comfortable with minimal to no pain.

The nose threads are inserted just below the dermis using a short cannula typically from the nasal tip at one entry point.

The sensation of threading is much like a standard dermal filler procedure using a micro-cannula.

The final outcome in terms of the contour of the nose once the procedure is completed will be determined by factors such as the thread type and number of threads used, the length of threads opted for and the precise location the nose threads are placed in.

At Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine, our Cosmetic Doctors utilise specialised nose threads that will continue to stimulate collagen to deliver long lasting augmentation with natural-looking results for up to 2 years.

A nose thread lifting procedure typically takes around 60-90 minutes.

After Nose Threads

Immediately post-procedure:

  • It is normal to experience inflammation, bruising, tightness and tenderness, for up to 4 weeks after your procedure.
  • It is normal to experience skin gathering, puckering, dimpling or pulling post thread lift. In the weeks following your procedure, as the threads integrate with your tissue the skin will smooth out, timing dependent on individual variables.
  • Detailed instructions with respect to Pre-and-Post Care will be discussed with you during your Cosmetic Doctor consultation, with documentation provided to each patient on the day of the Thread Lifting procedure.

Depending on your Nose Thread Lifting treatment plan, achievable outcomes include:

  • Lift the nose tip;
  • Visual sharpening of a rounded nasal tip
  • Build the nasal bridge;
  • Visually improve nose humps, bumps, irregularities and other specific asymmetries.
Your Questions Answered

Frequently asked questions

What is nose thread lifting?

Nose thread lifting is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure performed under local anaesthesia.

The procedure involves inserting threads made of biocompatible (dissolvable) suture materials under the skin to lift and contour the nose, achieving a more defined and elevated appearance which typically lasts 1-2 years.

Outcomes and longevity of results vary depending on the thread treatment plan developed by your registered treating practitioner.

At Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine, our process is to hold a Cosmetic Doctor consultation prior to each nose thread lifting treatment to ensure the nose threads treatment outcome caters to your expectations.

How does nose thread lifting work?

In a nose thread lifting procedure, specialised lifting threads are inserted under the skin using a fine needle or cannula. These threads provide support and lift to the nasal tissue, helping to reshape and refine the nose’s contours in specific ways – depending on the goals achievable with nose thread lifting treatment.

For more information, we strongly encourage those considering the nose thread lift procedure to enter into a consultation with a Cosmetic Doctor with nose thread lifting experience, as the Cosmetic Doctors at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine.

Who is a suitable candidate for nose thread lifting?

Suitable candidates for nose thread lifting are individuals who have mild to moderate nasal sagging or asymmetry and desire a non-surgical option for nose enhancement, such as lifting the tip of the nose.

It is important for candidates to have realistic expectations and for these to be fully understood prior to entering into the nose thread lifting procedure.

This is where the Cosmetic Doctor consultation with the treating practitioner is vital, to ensure alignment with the treatment plan and the patient’s expectations.

Your treating Cosmetic Doctor will also require the patient to be in good overall health prior to undergoing the nose thread lifting procedure.

Is nose thread lifting painful?

Nose thread lifting procedures at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine are typically performed under local anaesthesia, so any discomfort during the procedure itself is minimal.

However, some patients may experience mild swelling, bruising, or soreness in the treated area for a few days after the procedure.

Inflammation, bruising, tightness and tenderness may occur for up to 4 weeks after a nose thread lifting procedure.

How long does the nose thread lifting procedure take?

A nose thread lifting procedure by Cosmetic Doctors at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine usually takes approximately 60-90 minutes, depending on the complexity of the patient’s individual treatment plan and the number of threads being inserted.

What is the recovery process like after nose thread lifting?

Most patients can resume their normal activities within a few days after the procedure. Swelling and bruising might be present initially but tend to subside within a week or two.

It is advisable to avoid strenuous exercise and certain facial treatments during the initial recovery period, particularly in the first 2 weeks post treatment as the threads integrate with your underlying tissue.

Until the 4-week mark post treatment, patients are advised to avoid dental work, massages, saunas, spa baths, and other forms of facial water submersion (such as swimming pools).

How long do the results of nose thread lifting last?

The results of nose thread lifting can last anywhere from 1 to 2 years, depending on factors such as the individual patient’s skin type, lifestyle, and the specific type and style of threads used.

Are there any risks or potential complications associated with nose thread lifting?

While nose thread lifting is generally considered safe, there are some potential risks, such as infection, temporary puckering and temporary asymmetry.

In terms of practitioner selection, it is important to select a registered and experienced medical professional to understand the risk factors and how they can be managed.

Can nose thread lifting be combined with other procedures?

Nose thread lifting can be combined with other non-surgical procedures, such as dermal fillers or radiofrequency treatments, to achieve more holistic and comprehensive results.

To derive a tailored treatment plan specific to your personal goals, we encourage a consultation with a medical professional such as the Cosmetic Doctors at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

How can I find a reputable provider for nose thread lifting?

To find a registered and reputable Cosmetic Physician with suitable experience, we recommend doing your research and reading reviews on medical professionals that specialise in aesthetic procedures such as Thread Lifting.

We encourage persons interested in exploring treatment options to schedule consultations with potential registered Cosmetic Doctors to discuss your goals, ask questions, and assess the practitioner and their proposed approach before making a decision.
