High, full cheeks are often associated with youthfulness and attractiveness. As we age, the natural loss of collagen, elastin and fat, as well as the effects of gravity, can lead to a hollowed-out or gaunt appearance. As the skin loses elasticity, it becomes less able to hold up the underlying tissues, leading to a sagging appearance.

A cheek thread lift can counter these effects and create a more youthful and sculpted appearance. Thread lifting treatment can help define the cheekbones, give the cheeks a fuller, plumper appearance and reduce prominent nasolabial folds. This walk-in, walk-out thread lifting procedure offers long-lasting skin lifting and skin tightening results with limited downtime and no incisions or scars.

Led by our Medical Director Dr Gavin Scriven (@dr.gavscriv), our team of Senior Cosmetic Doctors are experienced and highly trained in a variety of different threads for the cheeks, including APTOS, MINT, Silhouette Soft and Ultra V PDO Long and Short Mono Threads, utilising the latest in cheek thread lifting techniques. Our Doctors at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine will work with you to create a treatment plan unique to your facial anatomy, personal goals and desired outcomes.

Results

After thread lifting treatment using long threads, you can expect to see a visible lift of the cheeks immediately after a cheek thread lift procedure. These results will continue to improve over the next several weeks as the threads start to dissolve and are replaced with new collagen.

The full effects of a cheek lift using threads can been be seen between 6 weeks to 6 months – and these results can last up to 3 years. The final outcome is a more youthful and defined appearance with a natural-looking cheek contour and fresher texture of the skin.

What to expect

Consultation

A thread lift consultation with one of our Senior Cosmetic Doctors will include a detailed discussion of your treatment goals and expectations and medical history, as well as assessment of your facial features, to determine if you are a good candidate for a cheek thread lift. Your Cosmetic Doctor will explain the cheek thread lift procedure, including the type of threads that will be used, the number of threads required, and any potential risks and side effects.

Treatment

Before the procedure, the treatment area will be numbed using a local anaesthetic to help minimise any discomfort.

Your doctor will then insert multiple threads under the skin at specific entry and exit points on the face. These biocompatible, dissolvable threads have small barbs or cones that attach to the tissue, allowing them to be pulled tight and lifted.

Once inserted, the threads are then gently lifted to reposition the skin and tissue of the cheeks into a more youthful and elevated position. The number of threads used will depend on the extent of the lift required and the desired outcome.

A cheek thread lift takes around 60 minutes to complete and is performed in our state-of-the-art rooms at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine.

Post treatment

Immediately after a thread lift treatment, you may experience some mild discomfort and swelling in the treatment area. You may also see some slight bruising, redness, or small puncture marks where the threads were inserted, however these typically subside within a few days.

Following the post-treatment instructions provided by your medical professional can help ensure that you achieve the best possible results from your thread lift procedure.

Downtime after a cheek thread lift is usually 2-7 days. Overall, the recovery after a cheek thread lift is usually much shorter compared with more invasive procedures like facelifts, and most patients are able to return to work and other activities within a few days. However, it’s important to follow your doctor’s post-treatment instructions carefully to ensure optimal results and minimise any potential complications.

Your Questions Answered

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Am I good candidate for a cheek thread lift?

Good candidates for a cheek thread lift are generally in good health and have mild to moderate sagging cheeks. While a thread lift can create a more defined and lifted appearance without the need for surgery, it is important to be aware of the limitations of the procedure and to ensure you have realistic expectations of what a cheek thread can achieve.

Is a cheek thread lift painful?

Most patients report only mild discomfort during the procedure and some discomfort or swelling in the treatment area in the first few days after the procedure. Your doctor will provide you with post-treatment instructions to help manage any discomfort.

How long is the downtime of a cheek thread lift?

The downtime after a cheek thread lift is usually minimal, with most patients able to resume their normal activities and even go back to work within a few days of the procedure.

How long does a cheek lift with threads last?

The results of a cheek thread lift can last for 1-3 years, depending on the individual patient and the extent of the procedure.

Are there any risks or side effects?

As with any medical procedure, there are some potential risks and side effects associated with a cheek thread lift, including bruising, swelling, redness, infection, and injury to surrounding tissues. However, these risks are generally minimal when the procedure is performed by an experienced Cosmetic Doctor. Our Doctors at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine have extensive experience in thread lifts for the face and neck.

What’s the difference between a cheek lift with threads and a cheek lift with dermal filler?

The choice between a cheek thread lift and cheek dermal fillers will depend on your individual needs and goals. A thread lift may be more suitable if you have more significant sagging or drooping skin, while dermal fillers may be more suitable for patients who simply want to add volume and contour to the cheeks.

It is our aim to provide you with all available treatment options to best meet your individual needs and goals.

How much does a cheek thread lift cost?

The cost of a cheek thread lift varies slightly depending on the type and amount of threads used in your procedure. As a price guide, the cost of a thread lift ranges from $300 to $3,300.
